There is something really special happening globally at the moment that makes this an awesome time to be starting something new. Everywhere I look I see incredibly talented creative women taking action to do the thing that makes their hearts sing. Women leaving the 9-5 grind to pursue ideas that they have held in their heart and decided to set free.
Elizabeth Gilbert and Rob Bell talk about creativity as something that everybody has in some form or another, and that giving that creativity a voice can be the thing that allows true happiness to explode in your life.
For a long time I have never thought of myself as a creative person, as I always thought of creativity in the traditional sense of painting, or writing a novel. I always sat in the corner wishing to be the person that grew an idea from a seed onto a giant Gum tree, but my inner dialogue stopped from me taking a chance. You know that little voice inside your head that tells you can’t, that you’re not good enough, that’s not your thing. (That little voice isn’t you by the way, it is a passing comment made by someone at sometime in your life that you decided to believe was true, but that is another story.) Then I had children, the ultimate form of creativity. You grow a little human, set it free, then shape a space for them to feel safe and valued in the world. Having babies cracked me open just enough to light a flame. Well a spark at least that every now and then, when something would happen, I would get a glimpse of it. A glimpse that there was something more.
I believe every time a women steps up it creates a ripple effect. Every time a woman says yes to herself there is a flow on effect universally and this is the magic that is wrapping around our souls and urging us all to take action. It is almost primal in the sense that it comes from somewhere deep with in us with no explanation and its power can be all consuming. This is all the fuel that creativity needs in order to soar.
There is nothing more fulfilling then creating for its own sake. In that moment, time seems to pause and you become the outlet for something ethereal to speak through you. This could be something as simple as making a child laugh, or creating in the kitchen, but the beauty is that you are truly in the moment.
So, drown out ‘the noise’, tune into your intuition and keep saying yes. Yes, yes, yes. Not just for yourself, but those around you too. Every time you do, you create momentum and possibilities and energy. Who knows what doors might open and what opportunities you will let in?
